Thanks to utilization of GRP reinforcement in the mid 80s in Italy it was possible to develop for tunnel excavations the technique of “full section excavation” for clay soils.
ATP at the very beginning contributed to the development of this technique, which was thought by ROCKSOIL in Milano, and that found an immediate experimentation in the construction of the tunnels for the High Speed Train railroad between Bologna and Firenze.
There are several products developed and available for this technique, each able to satisfy specific requirements, which however all have one common need: the necessity to pre-consolidate the excavation face before boring and so permitting to advance with major speed and safety.
